When you are in Kolkata, when you are in India, you have read a lot about beautiful women in history. But do you know about the most beautiful woman in Kolkata?

The normal ans is no. No one remembered him. His name is 'The Celebrated Miss Anderson' only in the pages of history.

Lets come to know something interesting about her.

The time is in the middle of the eighteenth century. This means that the battle of Palashi has taken place. The rule of the company is well established in Kolkata. Hundreds of boys are coming to India to work in the East India Company. Now think of the hundred single boys in a place, hey dad need a little entertainment. All you need is a life partner. The company did not stop but started "The Fishing Fleet" from England and brought the girl to Kolkata at her own expense. No, no bad intentions, the company said, "Find the groom you like, time is 1 years." Boy happy girl too. Some soon found their groom and some did not find the groom and went back to England sadly.

That's when Miss Elizabeth came to Calcutta. Elizabeth Jane, daughter of Robert Anderson, the great owner of the East India Company. In England he returned to his parents after finishing his college. But the story started from here, the young Bachelor English men do not know who this Elizabeth is. As soon as Elizabeth arrived in Kolkata, news broke that such a beautiful girl had never come to Kolkata. So there is nothing more to say that everyone wants Elizabeth to marry him. He didn't just stop here and say, "I would best fit my gown if you wore a pink lace piping Pie Green color suit." Main funny thing is all 16 boys came to party with same green suit. Laughter is all about, but everyone took the matter sportingly. Elizabeth did not disappoint anyone but everyone danced separately. The real sighting happened at the Fair, when the all 16 boys lit the torch and passed by Elizabeth's horse car to her house.

Finally, on September 16 1776, Elizabeth choose Richard barwell as her groom  . It is heard that the gambling and the drug addiction of both the girls was very intense. What else can be said? This is what happens to beautiful girls, Lack of luck. She did not have to suffer much for Elizabeth on November 9,  1778 when she gave birth to a child of only 23 years she passed away.

You may not have remembered her, but still Elizabeth Kolkata is lying in the South Parkstreet Cemetery at Kolkata. Elizabeth's tomb is one of the tallest tombs in the South Parkstreet Cemetery. Sometime on the horseback, his name is still read today by Elizabeth Blaine 'The Celebrated Miss Anderson'.

Written in 1485, Bipradas's Manasamangal and in 1580 Chandimangal of Mukundaram, has  mention  the presense of Calcutta . But there is disagreement over whether this Calcutta is the current Calcutta.

According to Suniti Kumar Chattopadhyay, lime was created by Pump the snail hole, hence Calcutta originates from Kolichun. Calcutta expert P. Nayar says Calcutta is the English form of Kolkata. According to him, about 300 years ago, a canal was in the present Hastings street to present saltlake. And this canal joined with ganga near today’s prince ghat. From this canal the “khal-kata” name formed and this change to “calcutta”

It is again heard that the origin of the name of Kolkata from "Kalikatha" or "Kalighat".

In 1688, in a letter written by Job Charnock on June 22, 1688, and in 1689 Charles Iyer, in the letter written to Elihu Yale, mentions "Calcutta".

How did the name of Calcutta come? This debate continues today. Any one of these
Calcutta nomenclature can be called as.

In my previous post, I spoke about introduction of the history of  Calcutta, but this Calcutta is not currently Calcutta, but only one part of present Kolkata. The current Calcutta, combined of Govindapur , sutanuti andkolikata.
Let us know some history of three populations

1) Sutanuti - There is a great deal of controversy over the naming of this section. The current northern part of Kolkata's Nimtalato jora bogan was "Sutanuti" or "Chuthanuti". It is commonly said that the name of this part is "Sutanuti" from the business of cotton and nuts. Again historians have said that Jahangir donets Kolkata as JAIGIR (a mughol rule to transfer of power to others of a villege/place) to , Barisha's sabarno royChowdhury. "Shyamura" was the goddess of this roychowdhuri family . There was a large umbrella in front of the temple of this roychowdhury house, in this part prasad was distributed or looted at the end of the day.
Chattarula - Sutatali - Sutanati - Sutanuti.
Job Charnock set up the first trade kit in this area.

2) Gobindapur - The then Govindpur is the present fort William and its adjoining areas. According to many peope, the name of this part is called Govindpur under the name of God Gobind Jaw. But according to another, a person named Raja Basanta Roy's employee Govinda Dutta dreamed that Bhagwan Gobinda Jaw was commanding him "Soak the soil, get money ". Gobind Datta got a lot of money in the place of his choice near Kalighat. The place is named after Govindpur.

3) Calcutta or Dali Calcutta - The special mention of this part is not known, but this part was under the zamindari / control of Subarna Roy Choudhury, which is available from the Mughal king. This part is today's Dalhousie Square or B B D Bug.

The history of these three settlements:
Portuguese has arrived in the sixteenth century to have the advantage of having a convenient location for trade in Europe and East Asia in the Hooghly  river. They are on the Hooghly river
Construction of the first commercial house in the original Saptagram of Basin. But due to the change in the speed of the river and repeated floods, they were forced to move their work place east of the river. In the middle of the seventeenth century, various Bengali business families and Jagat Sheth of Marwari used to trade cotton and cotton in this part.
In 1620 AD, Jagat Sheth and Basak's started business of printing ink, salt and lime. After this, Mitra, Ghosh, Mallik, Sen, these family started business in Sutanuti village. The Portuguese and the Dutch made trade clusters in this part and run the business with the help of the agent. They mainly collected solvents, stored in warehouses and exported.

In 1600, the East India Company received the Royal Charter from Elizabeth-1. They came to India and started business from Surat and Madras. In 1653, emperor Shah Shuja got the right to construct trade clusters in Patna, Dhaka, Kashimbazar, Malda, Rajmahal etc. in order to trade in Bengal. They started business by building a business cabin in Hughli and Kashimbazar Job Charnock once came to Calcutta in 1686, but subadar Sayesta Khan was forced to go back. Again job Charnak  returned in1690, he started business in Sutanuti area.

Evolution between 1690 and 1700

Although the construction of the trade clusters in 1690, the dominance of the English was not increased. In 1695 the number of the raw house was 6 thousand to 7 thousand and the ripe house was 8 to 10. The total population was 4000 to 5000 and the total land area was 1850 bighas. A handful of residents were Englishmen and the rest of the small businessmen and tribals. The names of many neighborhoods of Kolkata come from the names of these tribes and small business class. For example- Kumurtuli, KuluTola, dorji Para etc.

Charnock's death in January 1692, her son-in-law Charles Ayar and other officials continued to carry on business. In 1698, Emperor Azam Un Shan was forced to pay the full Zamindari Englishmen of Sutanuti, Calcutta and Govindapur.
The business direction towards the Calcutta, by the hands of Sir Gold Sorrow, has come. In 1699, the work of Fort William started. In 1700, the farman of Faukhsiyr got the right to trade in Bangla, Bihar, Odisha for a yearly payment of 3000 rupees and in Farukshiyar, he got the rights of more areas east and south as lease and the creation of the modern greater Calcutta.

KolkataThe City of Joy, by that name we know our city Tilotomma(the glamorous city). But many historians call Calcutta as ‘City of palaces’. But how is this Calcutta made? On August 24th, 1690, did Job Charnock then establish Calcutta? The answer is no. Calcutta's history is old, let's know that history.

To know the history of Calcutta, you need to know the history of South Bengal, which is more than 2000 years old.
It was written between 800-900 BC in the Mahabharata, which was then known as ‘Jayenshahita’. In this Mahabharata, there is mention of Yudhisthira when Rajsua is sacrificing, Vim then came to Tamralipta and fought with the local king. This Tamralipa is presently in Tamluk in Midnapore district. And there is a reference to Bukasur's war with Vim at the nearby Gangaonadanga, near this Tamluk. Even so, Vim is worshiped in many places of Midnapur.

Now come to the 500 AD, there is a mention of a place called Samatata in the Birahmihir's text. The location of the location is located from the current Dakshineswar to theBehala. Then came to India in 517 CE Chinese traveler Huang-n-Sung divided the entire Ganges Plainland into five parts, north of poundra, Kamarupa in the north- east, Samatata in the east, Tamralipta / Tamralipti port on the southwest, Karnasuvarna in the west, where Shashanka ruled. And the mention of this part is in the history of Chandraketugarh which is also known as De-Ganga's History.
Chandraketugarh is the equivalent of the Gupta era, and at this time there is evidence that there was a habitation in present day Calcutta, from the coins of the Gupta era near present Kalighat was founded in mid of eighteen century.

The inscriptions found on the Shushunya hills (Jundra) are known as Chandra King Singh Varman’s inscriptions, which are known as Bangla idols or the lodge form of Bengali language. Since then, there has been a mix of Arya and non-Marathi culture in South Bengal. The best festival of Bengalis is  Durga Puja, mixture of  Arya and non-Aryan culture.

Now come back to the history of Calcutta, we know that the former name of Calcutta was Calcutta; the name of the 1st January 2001 is officially Kolkata. Subsequently, the family of Sabarna Chaudhary and nine prominent people filed a lawsuit in the Calcutta High Court that Job Charanak is not the creator of Calcutta in any way. On the basis of this claim, on the basis of the report submitted by the Committee of Nimai Sadan Bose and 5 Historians, on May 16, 2003, historical judgment was given - "Job Charanak is not the creator of Calcutta", which changed the history of Kolkata and its real history.

What I said so long was in the report and more than 300 years ago that Job Charnak's name was mentioned in Calcutta.

kolikata, Baruipur, Chittpur, Kalighat, etc. are mentioned in the 9th chapter of Manasamangal, written by Bipradas in the 15th century. But before 13th century Kina Hari Dutta wrote, but after this Manasamangal, more than 4-5 poet wrote Mangal Kavya, all mentioned in the writings of Calcutta and a prominent township.
However, the current Calcutta and kolikata are different . kolikata, Govindapur and Sutanuti, these three populations was present that time. Job Charganak started to  call grater Kolkata of these three populations.

In next post I berate NAME AND TRADE HISTORY OF SUTANUTI, GOBINDOPUR AND KOLIKATA. please wait.
