In next post I berate NAME AND TRADE HISTORY OF
SUTANUTI, GOBINDOPUR AND KOLIKATA. please wait.
KolkataThe City of Joy, by that name we know our city
Tilotomma(the glamorous city). But many historians call Calcutta as ‘City of
palaces’. But how is this Calcutta made? On August 24th, 1690, did Job Charnock
then establish Calcutta? The answer is no. Calcutta's history is old, let's
know that history.
To know the history of Calcutta, you need to know the
history of South Bengal, which is more than 2000 years old.
It was written between 800-900 BC in the Mahabharata, which
was then known as ‘Jayenshahita’. In this Mahabharata, there is mention of
Yudhisthira when Rajsua is sacrificing, Vim then came to Tamralipta and fought
with the local king. This Tamralipa is presently in Tamluk in Midnapore district.
And there is a reference to Bukasur's war with Vim at the nearby Gangaonadanga,
near this Tamluk. Even so, Vim is worshiped in many places of Midnapur.
Now come to the 500 AD, there is a mention of a place called
Samatata in the Birahmihir's text. The location of the location is located from
the current Dakshineswar to theBehala. Then came to India in 517 CE Chinese
traveler Huang-n-Sung divided the entire Ganges Plainland into five parts,
north of poundra, Kamarupa in the north- east, Samatata in the east, Tamralipta
/ Tamralipti port on the southwest, Karnasuvarna in the west, where Shashanka
ruled. And the mention of this part is in the history of Chandraketugarh which
is also known as De-Ganga's History.
Chandraketugarh is the equivalent of the Gupta era, and at
this time there is evidence that there was a habitation in present day
Calcutta, from the coins of the Gupta era near present Kalighat was founded in mid
of eighteen century.
The inscriptions found on the Shushunya hills (Jundra) are
known as Chandra King Singh Varman’s inscriptions, which are known as Bangla
idols or the lodge form of Bengali language. Since then, there has been a mix
of Arya and non-Marathi culture in South Bengal. The best festival of Bengalis
is Durga Puja, mixture of Arya and non-Aryan culture.
Now come back to the history of Calcutta, we know that the
former name of Calcutta was Calcutta; the name of the 1st January 2001 is
officially Kolkata. Subsequently, the family of Sabarna Chaudhary and nine
prominent people filed a lawsuit in the Calcutta High Court that Job Charanak
is not the creator of Calcutta in any way. On the basis of this claim, on the
basis of the report submitted by the Committee of Nimai Sadan Bose and 5
Historians, on May 16, 2003, historical judgment was given - "Job Charanak
is not the creator of Calcutta", which changed the history of Kolkata and
its real history.
What I said so long was in the report and more than 300
years ago that Job Charnak's name was mentioned in Calcutta.
kolikata, Baruipur, Chittpur, Kalighat, etc. are mentioned
in the 9th chapter of Manasamangal, written by Bipradas in the 15th century.
But before 13th century Kina Hari Dutta wrote, but after this Manasamangal,
more than 4-5 poet wrote Mangal Kavya, all mentioned in the writings of
Calcutta and a prominent township.
However, the current Calcutta and kolikata are different .
kolikata, Govindapur and Sutanuti, these three populations was present that
time. Job Charganak started to call
grater Kolkata of these three populations.
